What are the export options & compatibility in ATLAS.ti Web?

Export Projects to ATLAS.ti Desktop Versions

ATLAS.ti Web offers full compatibility with ATLAS.ti 8.3+ desktop versions on Mac and Windows. Here’s how to export projects:

  1. Navigate to the project you would like to export
  2. Click on the Project Settings tab in the left menu
  3. Click on the “Export for ATLAS.ti Desktop” button
  4. Save your file in your preferred directory

Export projects to Excel

Easily download all the main information of your ATLAS.ti Web project in an Excel spreadsheet. This option will create a report of all your project documents, quotations, associated codes in one spreadsheet tab, and all of your codes, colours, frequencies, groups, and comments will be included in a second spreadsheet tab. 

Here’s how to export projects to Excel:

  1. Enter the project you would like to export
  2. Click on the Project Settings tab in the left menu
  3. Click on the “Export for Excel” button
  4. Save your file in your preferred directory

Export Codes in Codebook Format

You can easily export the codes of a project in codebook format (QDC) and use them in ATLAS.ti desktop versions or other QDA software solutions. Moreover, the XLSX file export allows you to use your codes in other apps like Microsoft Excel or infogram.com for visual presentations. For example, you can create line, bar, or pie charts to show code distributions of your projects.

Here’s how to export codes:

  1. Go to the Codes Manager 
  2. Click on the three dots in the top-right corner and select either “Download Codes as QDC” or “Download Codes as Excel” (QDC is a format that can be imported into qualitative data analysis software, and Excel is the more universal Microsoft Excel format that can be imported into qualitative data analysis software and more)
  3. Save your file in your preferred directory

Export Quotations

With ATLAS.ti Web it is possible to export quotations of projects as a XLSX file. You can also filter your quotations by codes and export the filtered quotations according to your needs. This export options enables you to use quotations in other software solutions such as Microsoft Excel for further processing. 

Here’s how to export quotations:

  1. Go to the Quotations Manager
  2. Optionally create filter views to search for quotations based on your parameters of interest (see the Quotation Manager article for more information on using filter views)
  3. Click on the download button in the upper right corner
  4. Save your file in your preferred directory
