Can I work with projects from older/newer versions of the software?

ATLAS.ti projects can always move forward in versions, but they cannot move backward. In other words, you can open projects from any previous ATLAS.ti versions in your current version (such as opening a project from version 9 in ATLAS.ti 23). However, someone using an older version of ATLAS.ti cannot open projects from newer versions (i.e., the software is not backwards compatible).

A project is automatically converted into a different version when you import that project. For example, importing a project from version 9 into version 23 will convert that project into a version 23 project file (.atlproj23). When collaborating with others, for instance, you can still merge projects together once they've all been converted to the same version.

Please note that this is different to moving projects across platforms. ATLAS.ti projects can be imported and exported with 100% compatibility across ATLAS.ti Windows and ATLAS.ti Mac. ATLAS.ti Web projects can be imported 100% into ATLAS.ti Windows/Mac, and ATLAS.ti Windows/Mac projects can be imported into ATLAS.ti Web but only the features currently supported in ATLAS.ti Web can be imported.
