How do I use code groups?
Code groups are a means of organizing your codes in ATLAS.ti. Codes can be assigned to one group, multiple groups, or no groups, depending on your needs. Code groups are non-hierarchical in nature; you should consider code folders and nested codes if you want to build a code hierarchy in Code Manager.
To create a code group:
- open Code Group Manager
- press "New" and select "New Group"
- name the new group
To assign codes to a code group:
- select the desired group in Code Group Manager
- select the desired codes in the window to the right of the arrows
- press the "<<" button to assign the codes
Code groups can then be analyzed in tools such as Co-Occurrence Analysis and Code-Document Analysis. Keep in mind, however, that any analysis of groups will treat the combination of codes as one unit, rather than a series of discrete codes that belong to the same group.
