How can I use the Concepts tool?
Concepts is a tool that can help you automatically identify the relevant concepts in your textual data. Concepts are comprised of notable phrases that might serve as themes for your data analysis. You can refine your analysis to documents, document groups, or quotations with selected codes or code groups
There are several ways how you can start a concept analysis on ATLAS.ti 23 Windows:
- Select the Search & Code tab and from there Concepts.
- Open the Document or Code Manager, select one or more entities and select Analyze then Concepts in the ribbon.
- or From the dropdown menu on the top left select where you want to search (documents, document groups, codes or code groups). Then select one or multiple documents, document groups, codes, or code groups, select Analysis then Concepts.
On ATLAS.ti 23 Mac:
- To start a concept analysis, from the main menu select Analysis then Concepts.
- Or from the dropdown menu on the top left select where you want to search (documents, document groups, codes or code groups). Then select one or multiple documents, document groups, codes, or code groups. Then select Analysis and then "Show Concepts"
You can search for concepts in documents, document groups, codes or code groups for concepts.
The resulting analysis produces a word cloud where the keywords with the most frequently occurring concepts appear prominently. You can hover over any keyword in the word cloud to see the relevant concepts, then click on the keyword or the concepts below to see the relevant quotations. The concept can be applied as a proposed code, while you can apply other codes as desired.
